Growing up, I took for granted the hunting and fishing opportunities we have in Montana. It was later in life that I realized just how fortunate we are to have such amazing outdoor recreation opportunities in this state. That hunting and fishing heritage must be protected and preserved for future generations.
I am a hunter,
fly-fisherman, canoer and white-water kayaker, and a private property owner.
I respect private property rights when recreating in the great Montana
outdoors, and will work with sportsmen, landowners, businesses, and others
to ensure that Montanans will continue to have hunting, fishing, and floating access.
I support Montana’s unique stream access laws and I’ll fight as your Attorney General to make sure that those laws remain intact.
The partnership between Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks and private landowners over the past few decades has done wonders for wildlife habitat and hunting opportunities in Montana. That work needs to continue, which is why we need to end the politically-motivated move to erode private property rights. We’ve proven just how successful we can be when sportsmen and landowners work together toward common goals, and I plan to help facilitate that relationship into the future.
Positions on Hunting and Fishing in Montana:
- I support Montana’s stream access laws, and I’ll fight to make sure they remain intact.
- I support private property rights, and I oppose the current trend of eroding those rights.
- I support expanded opportunities for hunting, floating, and fishing access through programs like block management.
- I support and will encourage efforts by hunters, fishermen, boaters, ranchers and other private property owner groups to work cooperatively in seeking solutions to stream and land access issues, and I will not seek to pit one group against another for personal political gain.
